TOYO-THAI RECEIVED LETTER OF AWARD FOR EXPANSION OF THE LYNAS ADVANCED MATERIALS PLANT IN MALAYSIA
Toyo-Thai Corporation Public Company Limited (TTCL) has received a Letter of Award (LOA) from Lynas Malaysia Sdn Bhd. for Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning Assistance of the Expansion of the Lynas Advanced Materials Plant In Malaysia LampsUp-MY Project. The project price approx. THB 5,400 - 6,300 Million (US$ 180 - 210 Million) and construction is scheduled to be completed in late 2012 . The project is to be built at the Gebeng Industrial Estate, Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia, to process the Rare Earths concentrates from the Lynas Mount Weld Mine, Western Australia through to separated Rare Earths products.
Lynas owns one of the richest known deposit of Rare Earths, also known as Lanthanides, in the world at Mount Weld, near Laverton in Western Australia. They play a key role in green environmental products, from energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) to hybrid cars, automotive catalytic converters and wind turbine generators. They are also essential in the development and manufacturing of many modern technological products, from hard disc drives to flat panel displays, iPads and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans.
